Sensei Alan Woodhouse Yon Dan I.O.G.K.F

Alan Woodhouse started training in Goju-Ryu Karate in 1979 under the instruction of John Lawrence, a student of well respected karate instructor Sensei Mike Lambert 5 th Dan.

In his younger days Alan competed in a number of karate tournaments, his highest achievement being 2nd place in the British All Styles National Championships in the mid 1980s (3rd kyu and below). Alan achieved his 1st Dan under Mike Lambert in February 1987, followed by 2nd Dan in 1988. In 1989 he was introduced to Sensei George Andrews and joined the E.G.K.A. A few months later he was introduced to Sensei Ernie Molyneaux and regularly trained in Bournemouth and London.

Alan achieved 1st Dan I.O.G.K.F in 1990 and 2nd Dan I.O.G.K.F in 1991. In 1994, shortly before being able to attempt 3rd Dan, Alan had to regrettably stop E.G.K.A. training due to business commitments. It was not until 2003 that he started training again in the E.G.K.A after meeting Sensei Rob Wood and training with him at Stubbington Karate Academy.

Alan now trains weekly in Bournemouth with Sensei Ernie Molyneaux, 7th Dan I.O.G.K.F. E.G.K.A. Chief Instructor, and regularly with Sensei Rob Wood, 4th Dan. Alan’s own Dojo is growing well with over 150 students training with him across the 8 classes he holds each week.

Alan passed his San (3rd)Dan grading in June 2005 at the EGKA grading held at Bournemouth and Yon (4th) Dan in June 2008.
